I started making movies with the family video camera passed down to me by my mother about 10 years ago. I made a comedy feature called Fake Diction as my first try. It was a parody of Pulp Fiction and was too ambitious i.e. not very good. It was great fun to make though and I learnt a lot. I went on to make other material and I had two comedy sketches on a Jeremy Beadle show called Hotshots - Anyone remember this? Anyway, I've developed my skills and now I'm a full-time film-maker with my company ffab - www.ffab.co.uk.
I'm the film-maker. This film gets a mixed response - people like it or hate it. Just to comment on the ending though. I don't see it as tasteless. The whole film is a comment on the war on terror. If you listen carefully you'll hear bits of dialogue related to this. We're one world - all of us stuck in an elevator. There's no escape, we have to make it work.

As a spectator, brilliant contrast of emotions motivated by the unexpected ending. Great camera work and acting . Thought it was a great short!

Very clever. Great little piece. I appreciate the director's comments on the meaning. Needs to be viewed twice.

That was dark, claustrophobic and distrubing - just what I look for. The short format keeps every tight and pared to the bone - excellent little film.

30 secs and several 'stills' cuts later, i thought- bollocks-arty crap. Then i started to like it. 2 mins 30 secs in i start getting into the characters and caring where it will go. THEN- @#*!!: didn't see that coming really. makes you think about little pictures (all our lives and @#*!) in the bigger picture. v. good

A fair improvement on 'Fake Diction', Phil. I had to watch that twice. The short format is perfect for people like me who likes their 'phil'osophy in easily consumable chunks. Did you ever find an absolute truth?

I did find the absolute truth actually, and I was going to sell it on ebay - but I used the scrap of paper I wrote it on as a book marker and returned the book to the library. Doh!
Funnily enough, I'm making a documentary at the moment called "A Cure for Religion". I'm looking for religious people from any faith and I'm going to do 3 things:-
1. Prove to them that God does not exist.
2. Prove that their faith is false.
3. Convert them to atheism.
This is a serious doc - any volunteers?

I really enjoyed this short film. Quite a brave choice of subject in my opinion and one I'm sure some will find very difficult to swallow as Jonathan Safran Foer found out.

Very interesting, a probe into the meaningful/lessness of things. I can't see the problem in portraying an event that happened. Should we hide it under the carpet and pretend it never happened? Phil, you may be able to do points 1 and 2, but point 3 would be (anti)miraclework where religion is concerned

Phil we thought this was a brilliantly filmed microcosm of personal life events against the canvas and backdrop of the big picture. A sobering reflection on modern life and the shocking but powerful ending brought it all into sharp focus.

Jeremy Beadle eh? Good times. I liked the bit when the guy fell from the roof. Check out our entry, "Mr. Alice", and let us know what you think.
