Co-directors David Meehan and Matthew Croft first met whilst on an A Level Media and Film course at College. After collaborating on a variety of student projects, we soon found a common passion for filmmaking and that we each shared similar tastes and theory behind the art. Since completing this course around four years ago, we have since launched our own independent film label writing and directing our own material as well as producing music videos for bands.

Excellent concept. Not where I was expecting the story to go at all but glad it did - a great reminder of the imagination of children that we tend to loose as adults.

  • No offence LoL or whatever your name is but unless your posting your own video don't say you have seen better this video was made in 4 days!!!! 4 DAYS! i was the tree dweller in the movie and i know how much work was put into this film, in such a short space of time with no budget whatsoever it was a short film nothing more, each to their own opinions but if you can't criticize this film with valid points keep to spamming the internet instead.

Actually it was shot in just 2 days.

The other 2 spent writing and finding locations..

As for channel 5 who watches that channel anyways?

am i missing a point? are we not allowed to post our own point of view ,without having to justify ourselves. lol made what i believe a valid assumption of this movie. in short, it has no substance what so ever , no characters in fact it has nothing at all going for it . hang on though it only took 4 DAYS TO COMPLETE. it is short on ideas, and yes guys i have my own movie in the competition.

    FAO boriskarloff:

You sound like a pretentious type who thinks everything should somehow justify its existence. You want characters and substance? I suggest you watch something a little longer or maybe you shouldn't expect too much from something which is clearly intended to be a little bit of fun.

i am not here to choose sides, however with regards to boriskarloff and ramjam i can agree with both points of views. lol left what they believe was thier point of view regarding this movie, this was followed by an attempted witty reply by the person who played the tree goblin . i believe the reply was not neccessary , we are all entitled to our point of view . however i do not see why boriskarloff jumped on board with thier sarcastic comment . lets just wauch these movies and enjoy the fun.

Hmmmm Thought it was really quite freaky and not in a good way. The tree person really ruined it, found myself embarrassed watching him. To sum up the actual filming was good, shame the tree actor just really let it down.

Well done in pulling it together in such a short time. Some of those shots during the chase were excellent. We also pulled our movie together in three days, but no-one seems to have watched it. It's called "Mr. Alice". Check it out and let us know what you think.

Waited for a bit of a point relating to title, just about interesting enough to see to the end. Either there was no point or I didn't get it? Was it meant to be inane or was there a message? I must be too old. Anyway, I'd be happy for an explanation. But all the same the characters were a bit crap too. Bit cringy and confusing. Soz.

the point of this movie is that children can make up ideas from their imagination something we miss nowadays. i was not declining any points of view i was simply stating that unless there is valid criticism then lol should not of bothered commenting as for me ruining the video oh well. i enjoyed being part of the film that's all.

Why are people so hateful nowadays? so what if it looks like a channel five advert what do you expect? heck why not let Uwe boll make a short film then see who's story makes more sense.

As I said before I really wasn't in favour of the tree guy, wether that be a casting fault of a character fault I'm not really sure but I will make it clearer that I thought it was filmed and put together really well.

OK time to be honest, step daughters boyfriend is in the movie..... but never the less I do think its a good concept and the filming very good. I just think that it wasn't clear that the whole thing was ment to be from a child imagination. But I am impressed with the amount of work put in to it over such a short space of time. Oh and that Shaun can run!

  • So this is where the planks come after they've ran out of pants to sniff. If you're going to say something negative the very least you can do is elaborate. A one word comment says far more about you as a person than it does about this film, which isn't great but is by no means as bad as the aforementioned planks have made out.

Finally, something that has fresh creativity and originality. A damn site better then most of the artsy fartsy rubbish I've seen. Don't worry guys, it's always the jealous folk who can't make anything decent of their own that make unintelligent comments. Majority will be envious directors so far up their own rectums, they'd think their own faeces was a masterpiece. I thought this was fun and entertaining. For two and a half minutes, what more do you want?

    HuntyHunt,

What are you talking about?? This film makes no sense, if it does, make sense of it for me......

Oh, you can't. For example, the unexplained man who greets the mugger, what's that about? Who is he?

There are simple rules that when applied, make any film work and tell it's story. They were not applied during this film.

OMG, is this guy kidding? Are viewers so used to having every piece of information spoon fed to them that they can no longer use their own imagination?
Does it matter who the guy is? He's you, he's me, he's everyman.

Clearly at the start you're supposed to think this is a cliched story about a mugger and the guy he is mugging is completely insignificant in that context.

There are plenty of people that understand this and it works on a few levels if you can get past the initial weirdness of the piece. So what if it doesn't have a "traditional" story. Surely that's a good thing isn't it?

It's not about whether it has a story, or whether the person criticising it has the ability to make their own film. It's about whether the film is any good. In my opinion this isn't. I don't care if it cost you a million pounds of five pounds, or took a year to make or a weekend. It didn't do anything for me.

Good effort guys. Your biggest problem though is that unfortunately for you, the wrong crowd are watching your film.

I'm sure this would go down well with fans of the bizzare (a la Mighty Boosh) but the only people actually watching it are student/art/failed film-makers.

Ignore the negativity. Unless of course it's constructive.

  • Even surreal films must have grains of plausibility. What mugger will chase someone? Why are the characters such cliches? Why does the script lurch from one contrivance to another to get us where it wants us to go? How do they go from emerging soaking from a bath to being bone dry? Continuity anyone? Attention to detail? And what the hell is with that faux Jamaican accent? Compounding insulting the intelligence of our audience, let's fall back on crappy stereotyping as well! This is like the very worst school play and a fast production time is no excuse. It may be technically competent but dramatically, in terms of scripting, acting and direction, it is very poor. Keep going by all means, but try to learn lessons.

RE the mini essay 2 posts back. I think the point is that this is a surreal sequence of events from the imagination of children as the directors at the end, or like a dream and who has dreams that have continuity for God's sake? Mine certainly don't thats what imagination is all about. This film clearly isn't meant to stick to realism is it? Please think before you ask retorical questions such as "why are the characters such cliches?" etc as you make yourself look very unimaginative and really quite stupid; do you imagine the directors don't realise the mugger is a big sterotype? So rather than taking everything at face value use a little thought as reading you last post all it served was to make me laugh at your attempt to sound intelligent. I don't know these guys but the direction as far as I'm concerned was not poor neither was the scripting or acting. I think the sterotype Jamaican mugger was an intentional cliche as most people with a sense of humour will realise. Clearly they were intending to be politically correct. Its meant to lead you into a cringeworthy expectation of predictable events but the point is you don't expect what does happen next, who would? I'm guessing you are white, middle class and are so worried about offending people that you end up actually offending people by being so over conscious about things that it points out peoples differences. I think this is most of all a case of differing sense of humour as I found the whole thing hilarious ESPECIALLY the faux jamaican accent. As for anyone just writing pointless insulting comments I hope you feel so proud of all your contributions they certainly achieve sweet F.A. I could write that a hundreds of these films but I don't because it would make me look like a knob and I would deserve any back lash that came my way if I did.
