Not like anything else I've seen. The humour is very black and the opinion of people quite low but you can't argue with what it's saying. It says more without dialogue than most do with pages of the stuff

Seen this a couple of times now and it gets darker each time. Unique approach in not telling a "story" as such. Sets it apart from the herd all trying very hard to make us laugh. I have voted for others but this is the only clip I have commented on. I found it powerful and depressing. I don't mean I think it's a bad film if I say I really hate it but I really do hate it for the way it makes me feel.

I don't much care about competitions but I do think people should see this. They may not like it but it might make them stop and think. I can't help noticing that there are SOOO many films in this competition that depict violence, hatred, murder, paranoia, death and horror and they get loads of whoo hoo positive comments. Your film shows the darker reality of a Friday night out and people start getting hot under the collar. Priceless. That in itself is interesting, so well done for making your film - which I thought was very good by the way.

Report this commentThere's alot more to this than just being drunk one night out. It took me a couple of watches but I'm getting it now. That's why its not "Just another Friday Night". They are talking about work and play I think and how we live our lives now. That's why it's all real and everything is so fast and disjointed. I'm glad they didn't use Take That. Take that are a bit short on subtext and the fat boy can't dance.

This comp is about PG ratings so it's not about kiddies it's about young teens and grown ups people who are already getting into the habit of drinking or at least starting to think about it. What better time to get them than before they start and to do it in a way and to music that they can relate too? This is brilliant well done

love what you were going for. more of a campaign then a film. and no way i would want my kids to see this.
it shows you have some creativity, but it was like a random collage of art. it just didn't appeal. I've seen this style of editing commonly, so its not anything new.
i think you should give it to the government campaigning against binge drinking and all that jazz, but seriously, it won't be shown in the cinema when it contains this sort of material.

Report this commentThere are clearly 2 schools of thought here about this piece. It says something about the mindset of a person who can look at something truthful and call it rubbish. As for originality I'd say look around at the rest of the movies here and see if you find an original style among them. At least this one says something important in a manner no one else on here has tried. Good on the boys and girls who made it I say. It was important to see it.

Pretty simple really. They are showing us what it's like. There's no commentary lectures sermons or judgements. There's just a mirror and one simple question all done to a soundtrack today's generation can relate to. The reason people either love it or hate it is because they either recognise the state we're in and despise it, or they know damned well but don't want to face up to it because it means they'd have to face up to themselves and we hate to do that when we know we're messing up.It's inspired.

ok lets put it in a different way, as this will just go round in circles. punkybrewster has the right idea. you either love it or you hate it. its the marmite of this competition.
however forget how good quality/story/message what have you. think of it this way. this film will not only be a film, it will be like an advertisement before a movie....now think about it. If britain wanted to attract more people to it, would they use this message. you've shown the bad side of something, but everywhere has a dark side. i just dont think you will make a good representation to win this.
i personally like the dark side of it all, but no doubt judges or anyone else will see its potential because it tackles something people just dont want to see.

I've repeatedly watched this film climb back up to number one on the high ratings page, what seems to happen is the other films that do deserve to have high rates are being hacked down until they end up losing their place. There are some really good films that are in the running and the person behind this film is making a mockery of the rating system. Currently on page 2, wonder how long it will take you to hack the other rates down until you back on page one. This really isn't fair on the other films mate. I also noticed yesterday that you had 309 viewing and 3 stars... no more viewings today but your rating has gone up... ummmm.... Hope you realise that IP addresses are tracked!
I appreciate your efforts but really if your film is that good, there would be no need to hack other people's ratings.

oh it don't matter about IP addresses and such. it's only the first bit of the competition. just because this is so high doesn't mean it has more of a chance of being chosen. It matters about the film, message, content (is it right for U/PG, i don't think so) etc. so peacock i wouldn't worry about it, the films you like on here will get their recognition

I think it's true that a few films occupy the front page and people keep looking at them. I was a while before I worked out you have to go to the back to see other stuff. It's not just this one. The same 20 films were on that front space for ages and slowly they are all coming back. Why is there no info on this group and haven't they replied to anyone? All my friends use the same puters in the library to log in and they are all on one network so the ip will be the same. This clip is on youtbe with a url and on gumtree and the forums are all talking about it. Not fair to single them out when others are in the same position. That sounds like jealousy to me.

It's not a matter of jealousy. It's simply because you've tackled something that the british don't want to be represented as. There's so many movies on here with originality, flavour, action, adventure, fun, excitement, drama, humour, you know...some great stuff on here. they're not perfect but i wouldn't expect film makers first or so projects to be. however, what this 'film' tells me, is that you want to address this problem. fair enough. but they made this competition U/PG rated for a reason. children WILL be watching it. Showing them the ugly side of nightlife in britain...hmm i wouldn't want them watching it. I'm not saying it's a pile of rubbish because you have made the effort of making something. but seriously the message and content i don't find suitable at all.

haven't seen much originality. Seen loads of copies of everything from Resident Evil to Morph. At least this one is talking about real life and what a mess it is. All that stuff about it being highly rated with no hits? Idiot. the server count updates every few days. It's just after midnight and the hit count is nearly twice what he quoted. All the highest rated clips are the same as they were on Friday, just in a slightly different order. That's cos the servers work on averages. None of you know what your talking about on any of this. And who said Dragaar is the film maker? He/she seems like just another person weighing in. The attacks on people who make good points in support are dumb. I can wait to see it on the big screen, watching the drunks and the more graphic image of puke - great whilst I munch on my pop corn and sat with my young children. unlike alot of people here I've been reading through the comments boards people have left A couple of points. First, the positions haven't changed much from this morning when I looked through at work so vote rigging? that's a load of crap. The #1 film now was there this morning. It's a rip off of all the bad horrors of the last few years and it is total crap. No one has said a word about it except to praise it. Second the makers of this film which I have to admit has flown over my head a bit haven't waded in here but I did find a comment from them on another film about people jumping off a cliff and they praised it up and said it should win. That was a class thing to do and sounds pretty decent to me. I think there are a few jealous kids here and they should grow up and shut up.

I rate you on entering the competition. You must have known it was going to cause controversy over the content. I agree with those that say it has a clear strong message. and yeah london does need to look deeper because madness like this is going on which needs to be addressed. it would have made a great ad campaign and it would have maybe woken up some people in power to do something about it.
However, i agree with those that say it's not right for this competition. It has such a strong message that doesn't fit into the U/PG category.
But I'm saying well done for making this. everyone knows film making is no walk in the park, and if you dont get through then send on this video to campaigns against it, you never know. could get a deal.

I agree with the last couple of posts. The people behind this are obviously bright enough to know they'd be kicking over an antsnest. Shame the idiots are out too. As for content you might want to look at the "film" thats been number 1 for about a week. It's a "horror" with murders and people spitting up blood and might have been ripped straight out of Resident Evil except the acting is bad and the script is worse. Can't see how that's appropriate for here either but I didn't see the kind of barrages there I read here. I'd take this realism over that plagiarism any time. This doesn't show anything not seen on the 6 o clock news so that makes it "PG" I reckon. It won't get through to the next round but it deserves a hell of alot better than its getting. Kudos to the makers for bravery and also for not taking the bait.

Wow, you've got people talking about your film, which is great. Personally, I didn't like it because I've seen it done before, this type of film before not getting out of your box on a friday, and have even made a similar film myself. In terms of artistic merit you're not pushing any boundaries, but it's well put together and you've got people divided on the matter. It's a great exercise and you should use the feedback you get here to fuel future projects - stick to it and good luck.

re panzermonster, this is more of a horror than the "Horror" that you mention, simply because it is real, and THAT is why people are hating it so much because they are scared of the reality that this video represents, a natural human reaction albeit ignorant.

Report this commentWhat a pity so many idiots have seen fit to disparage the makers rather than discussing the serious topics this film raises.
I should like to point out that I was sent via a forum I am a member of the link to the YouTube page which has a web address both on the page and in the introduction to that version of this short film, and I followed it here. I posted my first comment above when I voted for it and returned expecting a lively discussion to have taken place here as it has done elsewhere. Instead I find the intelligent comments both for and against the different messages this film tries to send drowned out by the pointless cacophany of the ignorant and stupid. How sad that a few fools can spoil what should have been a rare opportunity among these films to discuss things that to one extent or another affect us all.

You'll never get through let alone win with this and you have really p***ed people off with it. A case of sour grapes from those less popular I think. Can't believe all the screaming about friends voting for you which is a "crime" here but a defense elsewhere, and the bitching about it being a cheaply made student piece which again is "reason" for much praise elsewhere.
I hate the music and I'm not too keen on the images though I see why you have used them both. I rate you for having the guts to make it and enter it and also for not getting involved in the silly rucks you have started. Hope you do well in the future. One thing I don't get is why you didn't tell anything about you. Interesting. Mysterious.

Many of us who subscribe to their channel or just visit there to watch what they have done r the stuff they want to look at and discuss are happy to come here to vote because unlike the idiots posting negatively and disparagingly on this page and hiding behind initials to do so, those people are always really happy to help or discuss offboard and are polite and consructive, with well informd and intelligent comments views and opinions. They have made a very thougtful and well observed short that examines modern city life. It's only "lame" if you cannot handle seeing what you are or as many of us suspect you are simply jealous of the support and popularity this project is enjoying.
I say well done and best of luck to everyone involved for hitting home with something so simple and straightforward.

I think you're being really unfair. I'm not the only person to notice these messages and comments always by the same few people
I like to read the comments and hoped there's be some intelligent discussion on her like there is on other places like you tube and gumtree. I followed this film here from you tube and have talked about it with other posters there and on gumtree and it has been very good, with alot coming out of it even if the people posting have been critical. I really liked reading the other comments on other films too but you few idiots are ruining it with stupid insults and accusations that are a load of rubbish. We're all really sorry if your film isn't being rated highly but we all think you should shut up and go away now.

Only seen one comment by this team anywhere and that was in praise of an entry. Given the level of abuse they've taken from Frickin idiot cowards hiding behind their alphabet initials I'd say that shows them to be a class act. This film says some good things and deserves better treatment.

This isn't my favourite film at all but I did get to chatting with the makers via their You Tube site and found them to be intelligent and polite. They deserve better than to be abused by one or two very bitter people.

I see this film on youtube, it changed my life, the subject is hard hitting. You have managed to go straight to the root of the binge drinking culture that is tearing this country apart. Someone wrote "If someone is that hacked off with your film then you've hit a nerve and done something right." What a load of rubbish.
It's easy to hit a nerve and offend people. Just go film a bunch of cats, children, and or nuns being tortured and your sure to piss people off. I hope you agree there is more to good film making than just hitting a nerve???
As for this film, I found it dull. I think it would have been more interesteing to follow one person or a group of characters so we as an audience could connect with them while they got drunk.
On a side note it amazes me that it's rated number one??? Wonder why it didn't make the top 12?

Report this commentI think alot of people understand what this film is about but a few are still missing the points. It's about society as a whole and how they choose to live their lives in a modern world and at what pace, not about one group of people you can connect with or binge drinking. That's just one part of it. It's all about snapshots of groups all out on the same night and all doing the same thing and of all of us it asks one simple question. Are you really happy? If it is constantly at the top or thereabouts it is probably because A: it is being posted and discussed on many forums across Yahoo, facebook, Beebo, YouTube, Gumtree and others and B: because an awful lot of people have seen beyond the superficial, it has struck a chord and because of that they have chosen to vote for it. To choose to make a short with no plot or dialogue, no real script, but still being able to make pertinent and relevant observations on ur way of life is no mean feat.
There are several films at the top of the ratings chart which didn't make the final shortlist and the runaway leader isn't even rated by the majority of users of the board. Take from that what you will. So far this team have failed to rise to considerable bait, and as one poster here has noted, their only comments so far on any messageboards in this competition have been positive and polite. That says as much about them as it does about the idiots choosing to post abuse here and on other boards. All the same people and all probably from a team of makers whose project didn't do as well as they'd hoped.
The judges made their decisions and the people made theirs. Accept it.

I should add that when I said "the runaway leader" I was of course referring to the shortlisted group and not this chart. The same applies to the most popular chart. Many of those which have taken the most hits are nowhere to be seen on the ratings board which suggests that all things even out in the end.
