I liked this film, but I do have to wonder about all the one word comments. If everyone likes it so much why can't they spend the time and explain why? Is it just a bunch of friends giving support. I liked it because I found it uplifting, "it's a struggle but a worth while one."

Not bad. Can't help but feel that the response to it has been somewhat "manufactured" by the filmmakers if you know what I mean!
Not that there is anything necessarily wrong with that.
It was well shot and the acting was very natural. Just didn't think there was a lot of strength in the story or the narrative drive.

An awesome short. One mans struggle against reality and the short-comings of his own 'god-given' talents. When I first watched it I thought maybe Roderick was being a bit tongue-in-cheek. But having seen it again I think he truly believes his music is a blessing for us Londoners. Is that self-delusion? I'm not sure.
A great insight into the outlook of any struggling artist. Best short I have seen on here so far.

Quite obviously the creator of the film has written most of these comments in order to try and catch the attention of the judges. Not sure if that's in the spirit of the contest. Consider nightwalking which has 10000 on viewings and only 132 comments. Hmmmm.

It's nothing to do with 'my film' not doing well - I'd have to have entered the competition for a start. I just genuinely thought it was run-of-the-mill.
It's just not a great script. The guy is a good actor though, and it's shot quite nicely.

I'm afraid i have to agree with the few on here that seem to have sense. Just really not that good. Pretty tame actually. 3 stars at very VERY best. No throughline, direction's all right, but where is the film going?? We get that he's a lovable loser 5 seconds into the film. Showing him for another 2 minutes does't make this a great film. Sorry.

I find it takes you on an interesting journey. At first you think he's just an insufferable, if entertaining, plonker. But then as the film progresses you develop a genuine fondness for his open positivity which makes you reflect on your own cynicism, especially as a creative individual.

This film definitely has a feel good factor about it. I personally think that the busker has a great outlook on life and makes one feel as if you as a person feel that success is happiness, when you successful at your goal, you are happy. Playing music to people on the street makes the busker happy, therefore that is his success, therefore making him happy. Good Luck with the film, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This has got alot of comments. little too vague though, they don't explain why they enjoyed it, but proud of you you took the time to get support behind you. thats what its all about. i personally didn't, there was a documentary like this on a while ago. The thing i enjoyed about it was his outgoing way about it, but un-original. top notch for quality, shots, acting, other then that nothing really makes it stand out.

Fantastic film, deserves to do well. It's clear this film is building a nice fanbase, and so it should. It really puts a smile on your face without overtly trying to, like many other films. It seems the miserable sods are in the minority!
Willrowen - just because you might have enough time on your hands to sit down and write hundreds of comments on one film, does not mean that other people do. Do you have any idea how time consuming it would be if this director really did write all his own comments. Well, I can tell you he certainly isn't writing mine. Obviously you are jealous. And need a reality check. Your comment is also an insult to the hundreds of people who have truly enjoyed this film and taken the time to say so. Maybe this film gets so many good comments because, unlike others, it makes people feel good - and that, in itself, is original by today's standards.
Next on my rant...Mike - I also checked out the director's website and so what if he's done a few other things before....he has obvioulsy worked hard at achieving those things, so does that mean he doesn't deserve to do have the exposure this comp could bring him?
I wish people like these would shut up and let people who are enjoying a good film do exactly that....ENJOY it.

I think the actor was great. he really made the piece what it was, but the film itself, wasn't anything extraordinary, just the ordinary. it looks great quality wise but i would expect some more spark and flair from people who have experience. good luck with it though, im sure it will reach the next stage.

was a good film attempt but seen it all before. thought it was going to be a fresh canvas but its the same picture. the story is too regular for me. only part i liked was the actor. he had a feel good, likeableness to him.

lot of one worded comments, so alot of support. proud of you for gathering the support, shows you have good PR abilities top notch for effort.
however agree with some the glue holding this together is the actor. the story isn't fresh, the idea is quite common, it lacks the style and flavour of a piece of original. its as though anyone could make a piece like this. i must give you a good rating for actually entering the competition. i would be disappointed if this won, the idea isnt fresh and exciting. well done though and best of luck with it

some people have problems with actors, some have problems with story, but that's just little things. I think people have to see PAST all the little tiny things they're seeing wrong with it, because first timers can't always get it right first time. that's impossible. i don't know if this is your first, because if it is it is very well made. but from previous comments I'm guessing it's not but still, I spose you are still learning

well made actor was likeable but no way does this film warrant the attention and reviews it has received its just a ricky gervais/david brent rip off director must have an awful lot of friends and family i didn't find it any more than mildly amusing so god knows what all these people are raving about.i just hope these movies are being judged on their merit and not on number of views and reviews.

Completely agreed with ateday. The only reason I'm writing is becasue this film has more comments that any other, and i cant work out why! Alot of one word commentsas well, wonder if the maker of the film is making them up as opposed to getting people to write there own. Very odd indeed. Nothing more than a 2 star short. Medium rare.

Seriously. . .Seriously??? . ..This deserves this many comments? SERIOUSLY? Saw the film because there were so many viewings and comments. Looking forward to it. But seriously? 5 stars??? Come on! No offense but what the hell.
This doesn't come anywhere close to getting through the first round for me. Sure it's better that most of the rubbish out there in this competition but it had no structure, and no . . .point. Just a talking head.
There is no way this should win, yes the production values were high, but after looking at this guys website its clear that he owns his own equipment. It was always going to be. Surely what this competition is about is the story!
I don't blame the director or the actor, they've done alright. But just that. Its alright! The reviews this is getting is downright silly. C'mon people lets start thinking eh?!

I am surprised this film didn't make the shortlist. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can see why so many others felt the same. I would have thought this was one of the favorites, as it has such a high rating with so many views. Only one of my faves has made the shortlist.
